UWO SLA Winter 2019 Wrap Up

We had a wonderful semester! In the last few weeks of term, we held a morale booster event for MLIS students - guess the amount of candy in the jar for a chance to win it all! The lucky winner guessed the correct amount (88) but a few others came close. Congrats!

We also were lucky enough to go on a tour of the Royal Canadian Regiment Museum in London, Ontario. It was a great experience!

This term, we say goodbye to our communications officer (Meghan Kirkland) and our secretary (Catherine Andru) who are graduating. We wish them the best of luck as they embark on the next step of their journeys! We also wish one of our co-chairs, Amelia Harkins, good luck as she begins an exciting co-op opportunity this summer!

The executive team next semester (Summer 2019) will be:

Chair: Lea Beier
Secretary: Spencer Gullion

Available executive positions for the summer term are:

Communications officer
Treasurer
First term rep

UWO SLA Winter 2019 - Herbarium Tour

The Western Special Libraries Association has been busy this academic year with interesting library tours around London. We recently toured the Western biology department's Herbarium which is somewhat of a hidden gem on campus. The Herbarium preserves, arranges, and keeps records of thousands of pressed plants. They have an extensive collection specializing in plants and flowers that are represented across southwestern Ontario.

Here are some photos from the tour:
